Fall = LAST Semester Of Classes, More Wedding Planning & Of Course GATOR FOOTBALL

My absolute favorite time of the year has to be FALL! This fall is extra special too :) I will be starting my LAST semester of classes as a college student...WHOO HOO! Of course, I still have to complete my internship, but that will be here in Starke...So no more driving to Jacksonville 2-3 days a week! YES! I can hardly believe that we will both be seniors. Where has the time gone? Yikes! I will be taking 5 classes this fall, one of which is with the hardest professor in the college of ed. program. Please say a prayer...Please :)

Although I will be slammed with classes, Wedding Planning, must go on! My goal is to have the bulk of the planning done by December, that way my internship will have my undivided attention. I have to give a huge THANK YOU to my wedding planner, Jamie Fennell, for keeping me organized & on task. It would not be getting done without her! Right now we are really working hard on the details & decor for the reception. We really do have a lot of the major things already done, which is a huge relief.

My MOST favorite part of the fall is football season...Particularly GATOR FOOTBALL! I absolutely love my Gators :) I am so looking forward to Saturdays full of food, family & football. I am anxious to see just how well those boys from ole' Florida will do this season.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...So we pray, pray & pray HARDER

Just two weeks before Michael & I tie the knot we will graduate from college & we will officially become UNF alumni. Michael will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree as a Criminal Justice/Criminology major. I will graduate with my Bachelor of Arts in Education degree as an Elementary Education major. Obviously, I will be teaching, but Michael's degree can take him in several directions.
For three years now we have danced around the topic of what career Michael would choose. We have gone through guidance counseling, dentistry, police officer, federal agent, investigator and lawyer. But one thing has remained the same from the beginning. Michael has always talked about becoming an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. I have always changed the topic when he would bring it up. With graduation right around the corner, a decision needed to be made about what path Michael would choose. We continued to talk through our options, and the Marines continued to be brought up. Still, I would change the subject. Eventually, I warmed up to the idea of being a military wife. We began to talk it over and I realized that my husband's happiness is the most important thing in my life. I have chosen to support what he wants to do with his life. In a week we will be meeting with a Marine recruiter. Am I nervous? Yes. Am I scared Michael will deploy? Yes. Do I want to move away from my family? No. Is Michael the most important person in my life? Yes. And his decision is one I will support. We ask that you please pray for us. Please pray that we seek God's will in this decision. The last place that Michael & I want to be is outside of God's will. God will always provide where He guides.

Here Comes the....BRIDESMAIDS!!!

OK, so I have to admit that I probably have the BEST bridesmaids EVER! Choosing my bridesmaids was probably one of the easiest things I have done so far....They were actually chosen at our engagement party :) Let me introduce them to you!

Meet My Maid of Honor:
Miss Rachel Leann Best....Well, actually Airman R.L. Best! My maid of honor is my little sister, Rachel! That picture was taken the day she graduated from the United States Air Force Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. This is probably my favorite picture of us. You can see the remaining tears after a joyful, dramatic reunion since she had been gone for over 2 months. It was a very difficult 2 months for me, since my roommate was not there for our late night talks :) Just thinking about it makes me tear up again! I am SO proud of my baby sister and the woman she has become and am so honored that she will be standing RIGHT BESIDE me on the day that I get to marry my best friend. I am so thankful that she gets to share this day with me and cannot wait to return the favor for her....hopefully!

Meet My Bridesmaid:

Miss Kristen Ann Tew! Kristen is my soon-to-be, wonderful, energetic, outgoing, bubbly, talkative, & beautiful sister-in-law. She is on her way to becoming a beauty specialist...yes she is going to do HAIR! YES! WHOO HOO! Kristen is one of the craziest girls I know, which means she is going to make all of the wedding festivities so much FUN! With Kristen around there is never a dull or QUIET moment which makes life around her pretty interesting :) I am so excited to have her as part of my new family.....plus I get my hair done at a discounted rate!

Meet My Bridesmaid:

Miss Jessica Lauren Best! Jessica is my super smart, gorgeous, organized, ambitious, and wonderful cousin :) Jessica & I are the same age so growing up together was a blast! We always had each other to play house, dress-up & waitress when we were little. Such great times! We have TONS of memories together, including many family vacations & all of our high school years! My favorite memory with Jess would have to be the night that we went shopping in Gainesville & I discovered "moon roots"! Haha good times :)

Meet My Bridesmaid:
Miss Chasity Denise Whitaker! Chasity is my always smiling, tons of fun, absolutely beautiful, loves to shop (with me!), great driver, childhood friend! When Chasity is around a party is guaranteed to be had :) Chasity & I have made some great memories together & she has saved my life a time or two..Haha! I am so thrilled that Chasity has agreed to be a part of our wedding. I know with her around I will always be laughing at her funny comebacks & she will be sure to keep me in check!

"SuperWoman" also known as...My Wedding Planner :)

One of the first steps that I took in planning my wedding was to find a wedding planner. This is my first rodeo, so I wanted to find someone who has been there, done that. I wanted to find a wedding planner that I would work well with and have fun with! I wanted a wedding planner who was honest with me, and I could be honest with her. If you know me, you know that I don't have a creative bone in my body, so obviously I wanted someone who has the eye for creativity. I wanted to find a wedding planner that would serve as a good mediator between my mama and I....we are SO very much alike, so sometimes working together can be a bit challenging :) Most importantly, I wanted to find a wedding planner who wants to make mine & Michael's day as unforgettable as possible.

I didn't have to look far for my dream wedding planner....Walking into our engagement party, I knew as I looked at how intricately and personal our party was decorated and how every detail was perfectly in place, that our wedding planner would be the same person who worked so hard at making our engagement so special.

I would like to introduce you to....JAMIE FENNELL :)

Jamie, a very good friend of ours, was the very first person I thought of when it came to wedding planning. She did a jam-up job on our engagement party & I knew instantly that I wanted her to play a very important role in our wedding!! I have seen her plan baby showers, parties, and even church youth camps phenomenally & knew that she possessed every characteristic that I wanted in my wedding planner.

Just a little bit about my awesome wedding planner....Jamie is the super hot mama of two of the cutest kids I know, Haley (3) and Ryne (6 months). She has the biggest heart and would give anyone the shirt off of her back. Her faith & trust in the Lord constantly has me seeking him more. I look up to her soooo much! She is a fighter and has the most strength and courage of anyone I have ever met. She has really great style & has that creative eye that I lack. Jamie thinks of everything I forget about! She is constantly coming up with ideas that blow my mind!! Michael & I are so blessed to have her as not only our wedding planner, but also as our friend!

WE LOVE YOU JAMIE!!

A Little History & My FIRST Post

I must say that I am VERY excited about this blogging thingy! I thought it would be neat to update everyone as the planning takes place...and one of my bridesmaids is away for the summer so I thought this would be a great way to keep her in "the know"! LOVE YOU JESS!

I thought it would be appropriate for my first post to give you all a brief history of Michael & I up until where we are today. Here it goes....

How We Met:
When I was in seventh grade and Michael was in eighth grade our little sisters (also BFF's) decided to play "matchmakers". They were successful! We began "dating" (this was middle school folks!) right before the middle school Christmas formal known as the "Snowball". We were able to attend this dance together! Just a quick little fact- I played fastpitch softball & he played baseball in middle school. We wanted to have the same number on our jerseys but unfortunately 2 was not available for me. I decided on 11 because 1+1=2 and he did the same just for me! I wore this number all the way through my senior year of high school. Our middle school romance lasted up until the summer when it quickly came to an end because Michael was moving on to high school and I was left in middle school. We both pretty much went our separate ways through high school. He was in a way different group than I was in so we had very little in common. High school had ended for both of us and we were now attending the same college. I had recently created a facebook account and Michael had requested my friendship. I noticed that his religious views read "Christian-Baptist" so I wrote asking him where he was going to church because I wanted to invite him to mine if he wasn't going anywhere.I was informed that he wasn't currently attending anywhere so I invited him to come with me whenever he got a chance. After several wall-posts to each other we discovered that we had a class together. On my very first day of classes as a college freshman, my mom called me on my way in to class to ask if I had dressed pretty because I could meet my future husband! I bet she would have never guessed that she was so right! We slowly began talking more and more through our class. He rearranged his work schedule so that he could also begin coming to church too!! We began riding to class together and having "study" dates. I began praying over where God would have our relationship end up. One night driving home from one of our study dates while listening to Meredith Andrews sing "Mesmerized" I was overcome with such a feeling and overwhelming peace about Michael that I knew without a shadow of a doubt he was and still is the man I am supposed to spend the rest of my life with!

Proposal Story:
Michael walked into my house 12 days before Valentine's day with a huge heart balloon that read "I Love You". He attached a small note on it that said, "1 Balloon that says I love you!" Everyday following that, up until Valentine's day I received gifts according to the day we were on.
The second day I got 2 coupons, one for a foot rub and the other for a back massage. The third day I got 3 love songs that we both love. Day 4 I got love poems that were displayed on the floor when I walked out of the bathroom :). Day 5 I was given 5 terms of endearment. Day 6 I got 6 chocolate candy hearts. Day 7 I got 7 beautiful roses. Day 8 I got 8 heart shaped chocolate chip cookies. Day 9 I got 9 message heart candies. Day 10 I got 10 ways to say I love you in another language. Day 11 I got 11 Hersey Kisses. And day 12 I received 12 reasons why Michael loves me. Most of these gifts were made by hand on white and red construction paper, cut out with cool scissors and hand-written out. I thought this was SO sweet & could not imagine it getting any better.
On Valentine's Day, Michael & I had our usual celebrations with our parents at my house. Michael cooked up some fantastic Chicken Marsala with all the fixens for dinner with my parents and his. Mama & had the dining room all decked out in Valentine's day gear..heart plates, pink and red platters, red roses everywhere and so on. We all sat & ate dinner and enjoyed each others' company during dinner & then it was time for PRESENTS. Being the awesome gift-giver that I am, I gave Michael is wonderful gift first.....flip-flops that were not even wrapped :) Awful, I know! Then it was his turn to give me more presents....on top of the ones he had already given me!! I opened a sweet card that revealed Michael & would be attending an upcoming Michael Buble concert and a gift certificate for a photo session with one of the local photographers and friend of ours. I was SO excited about having pictures done of us because we just had candids.
The photo session was booked for the following Saturday. We spent the next week coordinating outfits (which stresses me to no end!), finding a location, and getting excited about pictures....or at least that's all I thought it was going to be! That Saturday was absolutely beautiful & could not have been more perfect for pictures. We decided to take pictures in downtown Starke and at a friend of mine's pond in Starke. Michael came and picked me up and we headed into town! Our first location was downtown, where we stayed for about 30 minutes taking an endless amount of pictures, then it was on to the next location. At the pond we did a quick wardrobe change and got going on the next round of pictures.
During this set of pictures we began like before, posing for pictures. We took a few in the open field, then moved to the dock. We took a few at the end of the dock and then Anna, the photographer, said, "I am just going to snap away now!" Michael began whispering in my ear how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I turned to look at him and saw that he had tears in his eyes and then he knelt on one knee. Next thing I know there is an open ring box in his hand with an incredibly beautiful diamond ring inside! He then asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him & instantly said YES! He slipped the ring on my finger & we kissed :) From there we took lots of pictures with me sporting my new bling!
As soon as we got into the car I was on the phone updating my facebook status & making those VERY important calls. But NO ONE was answering me...not even my Mama! I began to panic a little but knew they had plans to go out to eat for my aunt's birthday. So, Michael asked if we could go to his house first to show his parents while my parents ate. Of course I agreed but kept on calling my mom...who was still NOT answering! We made our way back to Michael's & when we were almost there I began to notice lots of cars in his front lawn. As we got closer I began to recognize the cars and realized they all belonged to our families! We got out of the car, walked inside, and SURPRISE there was an incredible engagement party waiting for us! Our moms collaborated along with a couple of our friends (Jamie & Tracie :) to throw us a celebration after our engagement!! What an awesome day!!
OK so that was a long post, but I wanted to catch everyone up! I look forward to reading everyone's comments!

Let the journey begin!
